Neighbourhood Watch Frankston29 Sandhurst Club Inc
We supported the community with a Family Day in conjunction with national Neighbour Day with the aim to provide connections between residents in Sandhurst. The simple action of saying hello to your neighbour can mean a lot to someone who is lonely, and also serves as a way of checking in on someone who is elderly and / or living alone. If that daily wave is missing it may prompt a neighbour to reach out and check on someone, potentially being a life saving act. The other aims of bringing people together on Neighbour Day means the community can experience a fun day, and it creates awareness for the local NHW and people know we exist and are around to support any personal or security concerns residents may have. Each month, we write and distribute a newsletter to all 1300 homes in the estate, to highlight topical issues and provide measures for protecting our property and our personal security. This includes information reporting on security incidents in the suburb of Sandhurst to inform and again help protect residents with knowledge on protecting themselves. This falls in line with NHW aiming to reduce the fear of crime and increase the reporting of crime. We provided free one way number plate screws to the community of Sandhurst to assist with protecting their personal property (car) from thieves. This year we also provided free access for residents, to handheld engravers, so people could inscribe their name / drivers license on tools and other equipment that may be targeted by thieves. This aligns with the overall NHW mission of reducing the risk of crime. We provided monthly information reporting on security incidents in the suburb of Sandhurst to inform and again help protect residents with knowledge on protecting themselves. This falls in line with NHW aiming to reduce the fear of crime and increase the reporting of crime.
