Congenital CMV Association of Australia Incorporated
Also known as:
CMV Association
Our charities purpose or vision is to minimize the impact of congenital CMV in Australia. Awareness activities have included media campaigns for newspaper, magazines, radio and TV, creating or collaborating on educational resources including posters, leaflets and video, speaking at conferences and symposiums as well as all social media activity. We collaborate with key stakeholders including Doctors, Virologists, MaternalFetal medicine specialists and Government Health Departments. We currently support families through an online closed peer to peer support group. Peer Support is a welldocumented modality for improving outcomes in people with a wide range of risk factors. Parents of children with special needs can often be isolated and have increased risk for psychological problems such as depression, anxiety and stress. Our online parenttoparent support group can alleviate this by giving parents a sense of belonging, support and empowerment. Parents are also able to access services more easily by learning from each other through shared knowledge & resources.
