2023 was yet another year of expansion for our database, local influence in addition to our educational activities. Our database growth has incorporated clinical, patientreported outcome measures, radiographic analysis in addition to cost analysis which is important for the advocacy of spinal surgery going forward. We are seeing more pressure on our spinal surgery industry with regard to the value of spinal surgery and the variability of results, and we aim to help enroll more surgeons within our registry database to improve our understanding of this challenging problem. At the end of 2023, we have more than 800 surgeries currently present in our database, with the main sites enrolling being Epworth, Richmond and The Avenue Hospital, both in Melbourne. The Paediatric Spine Registry has been set up and is successfully recruiting patients, with more than 190 patients currently enrolled between the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Epworth Hospital in Richmond. We have successfully been able to present our publications at the Spine Society of Australia meeting in Sydney, demonstrating quality of life improvements in this group of vulnerable patients. As we turn our attention to 2024, our goal is to secure more sustainable funding in the form of government grants. We have now seen reliability in our database pilot sites and wish to enroll more surgeons outside of our current institutions in both the paediatric and adult registries. Our other focus will be on applying AI and predictive analytic models to reduce the burden of data entry by collaborators, in addition to enabling surgeonpatient shared decision making based on data. In terms of publications, we have authored and coauthored a number of peerreviewed 20 journal publications during 2023, in addition to presenting a number of podiums and a number of poster presentations at local and international specialty society meetings. This has brought excellent visibility for our foundation. We have now trained 4 spinal surgery fellows in the last 3 years and have fellows confirmed over the next 18 months.
