Animal Rights & Rescue Group Incorporated
We have rescued and accepted into care, unwanted animals that have been surrendered, abandoned or impounded that would otherwise end up fighting for their lives on the streets or euthanized. We have assisted in providing temporary accomodation for animals that have suffered through domestic violence, homelessness, emergency hospitalisation of their people and crisis situations and offered a safe haven where they could be tended to until their humans were back on their feet. We are the only rescue group open to the public between Coffs Harbour and Tweed Heads NSW. We are constantly busy with the Public arriving with a range of animal related issues. https://www.animalrights.org.au/about.php We only have one paid person a full time administration person. The rest of our workers are volunteers. We have a seven day a week roster where volunteers attend the centre to walk and care for the dogs, cuddle the cats and maintain their housing. We also have an unpaid caretaker who lives onsite and provides maintenance and a security presence. The majority of our animals live in Foster homes, which are private homes suitable to care, rehabilitate and train them. ARRG reimburses outofpocket expenses incurred by our foster carers when caring for animals, but many don’t claim those expenses, essentially donating goods to ARRG. Our on site pens are regularly full to capacity. Three local councils contact our organisation with a list of unclaimed animals that would be euthanised if we were unable to take them into care. All of our animals are Sterilised, microchipped, vaccinated, and given flea and worming treatment, up to the date of their adoption. Many animals rescued from local pounds have been abused or neglected and every one receives the treatment they need and the time to recover. we have both a website https://animalrights.org.au/ and a face book page, where the animals waiting for a home can be viewed, rescue and success stories are featured and where we are able to promote our activities. We are committed to providing affordable desexing when our limited funds allow to PREVENT unwanted litters being born that will die in shelters, pounds or on the streets. Desexing programs are the number 1 solution and we need funding to reach the target areas. https://www.animalrights.org.au/adoptions.php Our adoption fees do not cover even the most basic of veterinary costs. Our organisation and facility provides qualified training for TAFE students doing animal care courses, Centerlink clients and other agencies, with students providing their volunteer services. With our newly erected Crisis pens, we are able to provide accommodation in emergency situations. https://www.animalrights.org.au/shelter.php We keep our members uptodate on our activities with semiregular newsletters : https://www.animalrights.org.au/newletters.php
