Bass and Flinders entered the Tamar Estuary in 1798 proving the larger and smaller land masses were split by a Strait. The Museum is in the Pilots’ Units. There is a compactus with information about all staff in the pilot service from early 1805 to the 1950’s. Descendants of these people request information about the employees of the pilot service. Their queries are answered by volunteer staff.
